Pleasure Principle is definitely a child of the 1990s. In a timeless opening of the film, the youthful protagonist (Jason Miller) tells us that he feels as if he were the only gay man in his home town. In return for his promise to attend his high school prom with a girl (so the rest of the family won't know his secret), his mother gives him a computer so he can make contact with other gays nationwide. Via the Internet, he becomes fascinated with Richie Fine, who finally pays him a visit. Miller confides to Fine all of his admittedly limited gay experiences, beginning with a friend (Corky Adams) who is addicted to cybersex. Adams connects with Sean Banning, and the two jack off for each other. Amid the manual sex are their fantasies of sucking and fucking, with Adams on the bottom. This interplay of reality and fantasy is particularly effective. Miller's next tale concerns a bit of voyeurism: he overhears two guys (Tony Cummings and Peter Andersson) making a date on the Internet and shows up at their place of assignation to watch the goings on. The two men exchange blowjobs in the park, then adjourn to Andersson's place for the anal footage. Cummings' ass is as fuckable as any you are likely to see anywhere. Miller then tells Fine of his only previous experience with gay sex: he and a bisexual friend (Brian Dickenson) experiment with kissing and sucking. The two men are Chad Knight and Dino di Marco - welcome contrasts in the basically boyish cast. In the final episode, Fine dumps a whole box of condoms on Miller's bed to prove his love. And the anal sex is consummated, with Fine, of course, on top. The concluding frames show Miller alone, musing over his future. Although he loves Fine, he realizes that the future will be filled with problems - a welcome note of realism amid the romanticism of love at first sight on the Internet. The varied cast of Pleasure Principle is a definite plus and the usual Jaguar concept of a story film usually centering around the excitement of sexual discovery, performed by a youthful cast, and romantically photographed, makes it a must-see for every serious fan of gay video.
