Bijou is proud to release The Best of J Brian. J started his career in 1967 and was one of the few gay erotic photographers of his era to make the transition into hardcore films. In 1972 J had the misfortune of standing trial for obscenity in San Francisco and gay Hall of Fame filmmaker Toby Ross heard about J's court case and went to the trial to see the man he admired defending what he believed in. Weeks later Toby was formally introduced to J and it was this introduction that started Toby on his filmmaking career and their filmmaking collaboration. This well-edited narrated retrospective of the pioneer filmmaker sparkles. Five films and seven vignettes, speaks loudly of J Brian's vision of youth, sexual freedom, and naturalism unfettered by society or its sexual constraints. Handsome "outdoorsy" all-American golden boys with big boners, both cut and uncut echo J Brian's fascination for gay sexuality. This informative and comprehensive retrospective pays homage to a sexual trailblazer by focusing on the artist's work and vision of gay male sexuality. Great sex, excellent photography and gorgeous men make this film a winner!
